How one Unique ‘In Saintitches’ Needlepoint Art Exhibit Is Brightening up One of New York City’s Busiest Places

Kevin Lustik, an artist who uses needlepoint to brighten up the dull walls of New York City’s Port Authority Bus Terminal, is an example of art that is about thinking outside the box.

He stated that he first started to quilt when he was in college. But needlepoint was his favorite. “I just did a few stitches, and then I thought I’m hooked. I started out more traditionally, and then it became more wild.”

Kevin’s whimsical pieces draw commuters in and give them a tiny but welcome break from the hustle and bustle.

Kevin uses his artwork to raise more important, urgent issues such as climate change and politics. The pieces are always interesting and have a little extra if you look closely.

Kevin’s “In Stitches” series will display through the end of January.
