Hidden Stories Behind Royal Engagement Rings

Princess Diana chose the ring herself from a Garrard’s catalog, meaning that anyone technically could have bought the same ring.

According to VogueThis was not approved by the royal family, who didn’t want ordinary people to have the same access jewels as the royals. At the time of its original purchase in 1981, the ring was estimated to cost about $36,000. However, today, the ring has become a collectible.

It is adorned with a 12-carat sapphire and 14 diamonds.
