Starbucks is celebrating the first day of fall with an autumn surprise: a rare deal for its loyal coffee drinkers. New and existing Starbucks Rewards members who buy a grande or larger handcrafted beverage such as a Frappucino or a Pumpkin Spice Latte using the mobile order feature on the app Wednesday will earn a free drink coupon.
You will receive the coupon automatically if you order a drink on Wednesday. The coupon can be used at participating Starbucks locations during weekends. The maximum value of the coupon is $10. It’s similar to a promotion Starbucks held on Cyber Monday in 2020.
Handcrafted drinks include espresso-based drinks, Frappuccino blended beverages, seasonal drinks like the Apple Crisp Macchiato, iced teas, cold coffees, and Nitro drinks. Starbucks states that this offer is only available once.
According to the offer’s fine print, you won’t earn a freebie on purchases of hot brewed coffee or tea, Starbucks Reserve beverages, or ready-to-drink beverages. Starbucks told USA TODAY that the offer will show up in loyalty members’ accounts on its app at 6 a.m. local time Wednesday.
While new members may still be eligible for the deal, they might not see it in their app if they joined Wednesday. They will still be able to redeem the Sept. 25 and 26 coupon.
Fall got off to an early start at Starbucks and competitor Dunkin’ with the return of pumpkin spice. Grocery store aisles are already stuffed with seasonal spinoffs including pumpkin beer, pastries, and candy.
The Seattle-based coffee giant brought back its fall menu on Aug 24 with the Pumpkin Spice Latte and Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. It also added the Apple Crisp Macchiato, an espresso beverage available hot or iced.
