Harry & Meg break Philip silence as Duchess ‘mutually agrees’ to end animal charity patronage

MEGHAN Markle has broken cover after Philip’s memorial by “mutually agreeing” to end her patronage of an animal charity after her close friend died.

Meghan has been left ‘heartbroken’ after the sudden death of Oli Juste who introduced her to charity Mayhew – one of four organisations she became patron of in 2019.

Meghan was introduced to the charity by animal lover Oli, who “tragically and very suddenly passed away” in January.

Howard Bridges, Mayhew’s chief executive, said “we have mutually agreed to end the patronage”, which expired at the beginning of the year, but said the duchess would continue to support their ambitions.

In her letter the Duchess wrote: “Though my time as patron of Mayhew has come to a close, my unwavering support has not. I encourage each of you to support in whatever way you are able.

“The emotional support of a rescue animal is unparalleled—as you’ll soon realise: it is not you who saves them, it is they who save you.”

Meghan said of her friend’s passing: “It has left me, and so many others, heartbroken and reflective — knowing that the legacy he leaves for our furry friends is beautifully simple: just love them.

“Especially those left behind or forgotten. In his memory, we will be creating the Oli Juste wing at Mayhew, to shelter the animals who may have a harder time finding their forever homes. Because much like Oli, they will never be forgotten, and they will always be loved.”

  • Meghan looks to trademark an everyday word

MEGHAN Markle has tried to trademark the word archetypes for the title of her new Spotify podcast.

The Duchess of Sussex has applied to trademark the word “archetypes” – which is coincidentally the name of her first podcast for Spotify.

Archetype is defined as being “typical of an original thing from which others are copied”.

She filed the application last month, despite the ancient Greek word being used in English since around the 1540s.

If the trademark is granted, it would mean they own it rather than Spotify, which paid them a rumoured £18million for their partnership in 2020.

But Meghan could face a legal challenge from companies that use the word in their names, such as the skincare and cleaning products business Archetypes, which already has a trademark, theDaily Mailreports.

  • William’s support to ‘awkward’ George with simple gesture

According to a body language expert, Prince William made a kind gesture to comfort his nervous son, Prince George, during their appearance at Prince Philip’s memorial on Tuesday last week.

Body language expert Nick Davies spoke to Central Recorder and said he believes George was showing signs of anxiety – as he started licking his lips and fiddling with his jacket.

Davies said: “He [George] takes a deep breath quickly, gulps and licks his dry lips which is caused by pre-emptive anxiety, but he maintains good eye contact and once he is spoken to by one of the clergymen he breaks into a broad smile showing his confidence.

“However, once his father talks to the Navy gentlemen with the gold braiding, George’s mouth tightens to the left and he rubs the bottom of his jacket with his right fingers, showing he feels awkward and is seeking comfort.

“William naturally recognises this by putting his hand on George’s shoulder.”

  • Prince Charles letters to Jimmy Savile revealed

PRINCE Charles once asked sex fiend Jimmy Savile to help the Royal Family’s public relations.

The future king’s handwritten letters to the Jim’ll Fix It presenter — later proven to be a predatory paedophile — will be seen for the first time in a new TV documentary.

The documentary will be released today on Netflix.

One letter written by Charles at Sandringham on January 14, 1989, read: “Perhaps I am wrong, but you are the bloke who knows what’s going on. What I really need, is a list of suggestions from you. I so want to get to parts of the country that others don’t get to reach.”

  • Meghan Markle hints at even BIGGER plans

MEGHAN Markle has hinted at even BIGGER plans for the future by launching a trademark bid for TV programmes and videos.

The Duchess of Sussex filed an application to trademark the word archetypes last month – despite the ancient Greek word being used in English since around the 1540s.

Archetype is defined as being “typical of an original thing from which others are copied”.

An application by Archewell Audio – Harry and Meghan’s production company – to trademark it is listed on the United States Patent and Trademark Office site.

It comes under the category “goods and services” and covers a long list of related items including downloadable audio recordings and podcasts.

All the items apply to “the fields of cultural treatment of women and stereotypes facing women”.

But the trademark application itself has hinted that Meghan’s plans may go far beyond podcasts.

The trademark would also cover all “audiovisual recordings, recorded webcasts, video podcasts, and television programs.

  • More than four in 10 people think abolishing monarchy would be bad

New research has looked at where Britons stand on abolishing the monarchy, and on other members of the royal family, including Andrew and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

More than four in 10 people (44%) think abolishing the monarchy would be worse for Britain – twice as many as the 22% who think it would be better.

Gideon Skinner, head of political research at Ipsos, said: “At the moment only a minority of people believe Britain would be better off without the monarchy, and the popularity of the Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge remains strong.

“Looking to the future, half of Britons have faith in Prince Charles as a future king and more people view him in a positive light than four years ago.

“However, with the popularity of Prince William not far behind that of the Queen, Britons also wonder whether Prince Charles should step aside in favour of his eldest son.

“But their actions now are still important for the longer-term future of the royal family.”

  • Princess Diana had ‘no regrets’ over Bashir interview

PRINCESS Diana had “no regrets” over her interview with Martin Bashir – and the image of her as a “foolish” woman who was conned is offensive, her biographer claims.

Tina Brown said Diana was no “vulnerable victim of the media” and felt “pleased” about the Panorama interview.

In May, a bombshell report into the 1995 chat found that ex BBC journalist Bashir acted in “serious breach” of the broadcaster’s guidelines to secure the interview.

Princes William and Harry both condemned the journalist in separate statements, while Diana’s brother Earl Spencer told of his fury and horror.

Lord Dyson’s report revealed Bashir fabricated information to “deceive” Diana into agreeing to talk.

He commissioned fake bank statements to persuade her that officials were being paid by MI5 and the media for information about her, before showing them to Earl Spencer to win his trust.

  • Meghan’s first solo podcast will be released this summer

Meghan Markle’s first solo podcast will be released this summer, it has been announced – a year-and-a-half after she and Harry signed an £18million deal with Spotify.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed she’ll be looking into labels and stereotypes “that try to hold women back” for the series.

She’ll host the show, Archetypes, and interview experts and historians during episodes.

The Sussexes were given a bumper pay-out by the streaming giant back in late 2020.

But in January 2022, Central Recorder revealed Spotify was taking the project “into its own hands” as content from the couple failed to materialise.

Initially, a “full-scale” launch of shows was promised in 2021. However, the year came and went without any further update.

Bosses then stepped in and began recruiting in-house staff to help.

Harry and Meghan’s only podcast effort so far has been a 35-minute ‘holiday special’ in December 2020, featuring celebrity pals Elton John and James Corden.

It means that, so far, they’ve been paid £500,000 for each minute of content released through the platform.

  • Royal chef’s trick to get Harry and William to eat their greens

Former royal chef spoke about ways he would get the royal brothers to eat their greens.

Darren McGrady, former royal chef, has shared what it was like to cook for the royal family.

Speaking to theRoyally Obsessed podcast, friend of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, royal expert and co-author of Finding Freedom Omid Scobie chatted to Rachel Bowie and co-host Roberta Fiorito.

In the podcast, Scobie discussed the royal couple’s explosive Oprah interview that aired in March 2021, and how that has influenced expectations for the book.

“I’ve been told by sources that Harry really is going out of his way to make sure that there isn’t material in there that could be seen as negative toward the queen or her reign in any way whatsoever and he really wants to celebrate her life and his relationship with her in that book,” Scobie says.

“I think as much as the press wants this to be a burn book and an attack on the institution, [Harry’s memoir] is more just about his story—and of course, there’s a lot more to it than the few years of his life as the Duke of Sussex.”

He added: “Even those working directly on this project still don’t know the contents of it—they’re doing an incredible job of keeping it secret for as long as possible.”

Royal biographer Tina Brown wrote in her biography of the Royal Family that friends of Diana upheld that the Princess “was pleased” about the interview on Panorama.

Brown added: “I don’t subscribe to the now pervasive narrative that Diana was a vulnerable victim of media manipulation, a mere marionette tossed about by malign forces beyond her control.

“While strongly sympathetic to her sons’ pain, I find it offensive to present the canny, resourceful Diana as a woman of no agency, as either a foolish, duped child or the hapless casualty of malevolent muckrakers.”

“This is a very challenging marriage, very challenging.”
