Halle Berry Honors Dorothy Dandridge with a Lingerie Tribute

Halle Berry is well-known for her major roles in movies like Die Another Day, CatwomanEven better! Swordfish. In an HBO original film, she had appeared earlier in her career. When she played the role, she was apparently given a chunk of Ms. Dandridge’s wardrobe, including lingerie, which she modeled for her followers in a brand new post.

She displaying what she affectionately calls her “her” “Dottie Body,” Halle Berry reveals Dandridge’s manager Earl Mills gifted her with the underwear and outerwear looks. They were displayed in an Instagram throwback photo that featured a bunch of Polaroids.

Dorothy Dandridge was an actress and performer who had a long career that spanned from the 1930s through the 1960s. However, her greatest films were made in the 1950s. (It also marks an equal tie between the actresses as Halle Berry, one of few African American women to have been nominated for an Academy Award. She is the only Black actress to win the Best Lead Actress statue.

Berry spoke out about having been gifted the Dorothy Dandridge outfit in the past. She spoke last year with Vogue about Mills’ gift, noting that she tried on the looks and they “fit like a glove.”During the interview, she also stated that a dress was important. “didn’t need any alterations.” Now, it seems there’s photographic evidence that Berry was the right actress to be cast in the 1999 HBO film.

Fashion’s always been a big part of Berry’s branding. There’s the infamous bikini she wore for Die Another Day. There’s the Catwoman suit she rocked that differed from what Michelle Pfeiffer had worn on the big screen 12 years prior.
