Grantchester fans are excited to see the behind-the scenes photo for season 8.

After being spotted on a behind-the scenes photo from Grantchester, Robson Green answered fans’ prayers.

The British crime drama hit is returning for another season on ITV UK, and Masterpiece PBS in the USA.

Only days after the US’s last finale episode (August 14), the announcement of the eighth season’s start of filming is made.

It seems they couldn’t wait to get started as DI Geordie Keating (Green) and Tom Brittney (Reverend Will Davenport) are back together.

Grantchester Season 8 cast – what can we expect?

Other Grantchester case are returning for season 8 – including Charlotte Ritchie as Bonnie and Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs C. There’s also Al Weaver playing Leonard Finch and Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe. Fans will also see Kacey Asworth as Cathy Keating, and Nick Brimble portraying Jack Chapman.

But Reverend Will is set to see his world come crushing down – what will this mean for his faith?

It gives a teaser synopsis: “He’s always preached the word of a compassionate God — but how can he now, when his despair leads him on a dangerous downward spiral?”

Will can he move on from the tragedy that rocked his life after he has found happiness?

‘Murder is always around the corner’

We can’t forget the plot of the show, but it appears Geordie will also see some of this life cracks.

The synopsis also includes: “As Mrs. C, Leonard, Jack and Daniel rally around, both Will and Geordie find themselves in unfamiliar, emotional waters and murder is always around the corner.”

Will and Geordie are still to be tested ‘to the limit’While “exploring faith, forgiveness and redemption”.

Then there’s the teasers of “invisible women” and the issues they cause for Leonard’s new vocation.

The behind-the scenes shots

Fans are eager for new episodes. One of them said: “Great news! We all love Grantchester in this family so thank you very much for renewing it”.

An additional: “Awesome news…love Grantchester. Can’t wait to see it.

“It’s so good to be back onGrantchester,”Green made the statement in a statement. “A series that just gets better with age. Everyone involved is at the top of their game and this incredibly charming, likeable, dark and edgy show is an absolute privilege to be part of.”

Brittney also added “I’m absolutely chuffed that we’re going ahead with another series ofGrantchesterand that I get to continue playing a character I adore so much. To be part of a show as well loved as this one, that is now in its eighth series, is an absolute honour.”

The show was a huge success in the UK as well as the US. It was adapted from The Grantchester Mysteries novels by James Runcie. Daisy Coulam adapts the stories for TV.

The release date for Grantchester season 8 has not yet been announced – but keep your eyes peeled.
