THERE are 33 Nornir chests in God of War Ragnarök, and finding each will reward you with an upgrade to either your health or your rage.
An Idunn Apple will improve your health, and a Horn of Blood Mead can increase your rage.

Some of them can be quite difficult to find and open, but if you’re hoping to take part in some of God of War’s trickier challenges, such as the Muspelheim Combat Trials, then you’ll want to pick them up.
Here’s our guide on where to find all the Nornir Chests in God of War Ragnarök.
Nornir Chests God of War Ragnarök: Aurvangar Wetlands
Nornir Chest 1 – Idunn Apple
You will find a puzzle and a wooden wheel when you reach the Aurvangar Waters.
To break the seal to the right of your chest, you can throw your axe at it. You will find the next seal on an island behind it.
The third seal requires that you freeze the geyser in the vicinity and then use it for grappling up to the higher platform. The seal can be found near a tree.
Nornir Chest 2: Horn of Blood Mead
This chest is located on the northeast coast, hiding behind an alcove which you must row under.
To open the chest, defeat all enemies in the area.
Another chest is located here, containing the Deadly Obsidian Handles. These will increase your strength by +4.
To reveal a rotating pillar bearing a rune, freeze the geyser located near the Nornir Chest.
Use your axe for rotation so it is the same size as the first symbol on your chest.
You can climb to the top of the platform, near the chest. Rotate this to match your second symbol.
For the final pillar, you will need to drop behind the chest.
Nornir Chests God of War Ragnarök: Bay of Bounty
Nornir Chest 1 – Idunn Apple
Head to Dragon Beach in Bay of Bounty. To break the statue, you will need to freeze the geyser that is behind the chest.
The second seal can be found near the shore, opposite the dragon statue.
The dragon statue is the final seal. To break the seal’s back, go down to the beach and grab your axe.
Nornir Chest 2: Horn of Blood Mead
You will find a torch on the chest to the right. Use your blades to aim at the torch and then hold R2 to light.
Keep following the circle, moving away from the chest to locate two barrels. You will find the second torch by breaking them using sonic arrows.
You will find the third torch behind an Iron Fence in the corner, opposite the chest. You can stand on the elevated wooden platform and cross your legs to throw your axe at an explosive jar.
Nornir Chest 3 – Idunn Apple
On Alberich Island, you will find a third Nornir Chest just north of Bay of Bounty. You will need to quickly hit three bells in order to unlock the chest.
The first is hidden behind the chest. The second is behind the chest, and it’s hidden behind a gate. You can raise it by throwing your axe at it from the left.
On the opposite side of the wooden structure is the third bell. Use a sonic torpedo to strike the glowing spot at the pillar and cause it to fall.

Nornir Chest 1: Horn of Blood Mead
Before the mines in a Nornir Chest. It is located to the left.
You can drop down and freeze the water trough at the top of the second torch, before you light it.
Don’t recall your axe, and grapple over the gap. This is the third torch, and the lore marker.
Nornir Chest 2 – Fortitude Amulet
This one is not available in-game. It can be found at the end of The Lost Lindwyrms favour.
Hidden among the rubble is a runic icon to the west of your chest. They must be blown up simultaneously with your spear.
The one east of the chest is hidden behind an underground geyser. To hit it, you will need to freeze. This is located opposite the Mystic Portal.
Nornir Chest 3 – Midgard’s Bravery
This chest is also available at Sverd Sands. Near the top of the chest, you will find the first idol.
The wooden platforms to the northwest contain the second and third idols. To avoid the beams, it is easier to find the third idol if you stand close enough to the chest.
Nornir Chests God of War Ragnarök: The Forge
Nornir Chest 1 – Idunn Apple
The Nornir Chest is located in the wine cellar on the way to The Forge. You can light the first torch by using your sigil-arrows or your blades.
The second one is located opposite the chest. This is the final one, which can be found in the corridor behind wooden crates that are hidden in an archway.
Nornir Chest 2: Horn of Blood Mead
This chest will require the spear. You will need the spear to reach the wooden totem.
Next to the southeast is the rock. The last one is located next to the cart hanging from the wooden walkway close to the tracks.
The next one is visible from the same spot on the rock to the southeast.
The final one is back towards the train tracks, next to the cart that’s dangling from the wooden walkway.
Nornir Chests God of War Ragnarök: The Strond
Nornir Chest 1 – Idunn Apple
This chest is found while looking for Groa’s Shrine, south of the Mystical Gateway. You can find it by going through the crack.
The first lantern can be found at the edge a cliff to your right. The second lantern is located south of the chest, past the overlook.
This is the last one. Go south and you’ll find it on your left. To find the lantern, you must drop down when another check is visible.
Nornir Chest 2: Horn of Blood Mead
Next, you will find the next chest at the bottom of the grand staircase that runs deep within the Temple of Light.
Fire a sonic bow at the debris to clear the path. Then, head back towards the chest.
You will see two bells on the left and one on your right when you look at the chest. To hit all three, quickly throw your axe at a twilight rock on the right.
Nornir Chest 3 – Idunn Apple
Once you have the spear, head towards the Mystical Gateway to walk towards The Temple of Light.
You will find a chest and a wall to be destroyed with your spear. You can find the first idol here.
The second is located to the right. To open the chest, blow up all three.
Nornir Chests God of War Ragnarök: The Barrens
Nornir Chest 1 – Idunn Apple
After you have entered The Canyons, talk to Sindri to activate the Secret of the Sands Favor.
This gives you access to the sled and makes travel much easier. Complete the quest to get rid of the storms in The Barrens.
There are some caves to the east of The Canyons, known as The Below, which is where you’ll find this chest.
To gain easy access to it, unlock the shortcut located above the chest on either side of the gate.
The first bell is located near the gate’s window. The second bell is opposite the chest. The final bell can be found at the end of the corridor, just past the gate.
Nornir Chest 2: Horn of Blood Mead
A chest is hidden in a dark elf root-covered structure on the west side.
You can clear the area by throwing your axe at one of the glowing points. There are two torchlights at the entrance and one behind the building.
The last torch is located on the roof. You can light it by hitting it with the exploding container.
Nornir Chests God of War Ragnarök: Forbidden Sands
Nornir Chest 1: Horn of Blood Mead
This chest can be found on the south side. The chest is located next to the first torch.
You will need to lift the fallen pillar to get to the main area.
The second is north of the Rocky outcrop here, you’ll need to fire a lot of sigil arrows in order to light it.
The last one is located to the east side of the large archway. To light this one, you will need sigil arrows.
Nornir Chest 2 – Crafting materials
To the north, squeeze through the crack in the wall beneath the library. You can clear the tendrils surrounding the chest by swinging your axe from the twilight rock.
On the north side, the first torch will be located next to the campfire. The torch will be lit by lighting the campfire.
To the south are the remaining torches. The lower one is visible, while the higher one is hidden behind a wall.
To light the bottom torch, create a line of sigils that lead to the campfire. Next, create a line with large sigils connecting both torches.
Start by firing a sonic gun at the wall, revealing the top torch. Next, use a second sigil for lighting them both.
This one is very tricky and requires quick execution. It may take several attempts.

Nornir Chest 1 – Idunn Apple
This chest is available while Brok and Freya are on their travels.
The first pillar is located on the ridge west of the chest. Turn it so that it displays the first symbol on your chest.
The second pillar is to the east. You can burn the vines with your blades, then turn it to match the second symbol.
A pillar will be above you on the path to southeast. To clear it, lighten the vines at your right.
Nornir Chest 2: Horn of Blood Mead
You will find the chest in the broken bridge as you complete The Reckoning.
Once you have the crane in place, grab the gap and pull the bucket to your right to light the torch.
Turn the crane so that you can return the crane to its original point. Then, pull the bucket towards yourself to light the second.
To light the last torch, go to the opposite side of the bridge and open the chest.
Nornir Chest 3 – Idunn Apple
The next chest is at Goddess Falls to the right of the secret entrance where you find Freyr’s personal favour.
It is located at the top of each waterfall. The first lantern can be found on the ridge south of the chest.
To cover the lantern as well as the rocks around it, stand as close to it as possible and fire three sigil shots.
The next is located between the chest and the lantern, high up to the north. Three arrows should be fired to connect the top and bottom rocks.
The final lantern is found north of the chest. Make a line of sigils starting at the rock.
Nornir Chest 4 – Idunn Apple
This one can be found at Cliffside Ruins near Brok’s shop. The pillar is located across the water. Throw your axe until the symbol matches.
The ghost is half way up the chain. You can reach it by climbing on the nearby platforms.
The last pillar can be found in the corner west of the chest. It’s hidden behind the cliff and covered in vines.
Your sigils should be aligned and you will move closer to torch the vines before it is rotated.
Nordir Chest 5: Horn of Blood Mead
This chest is located in the Veiled Passage, a cave east from Goddess Falls.
The bells are placed on the wall opposite the river. For clearing the vines, you can fire a sigilarrow and grab a flame bomb.
Create a line from left to right of the sigils. To ring all the bells simultaneously, throw another fire bomb.

Nornir Chest 1 – Idunn Apple
This one is near a werewolf, deep into the woods, but you’ll need the spear to open it.
The chest’s first pillar is located in the building across the gap. Match it with your first symbol.
You will also find the second pillar just outside of the building. Near the entrance is the final pillar. The vines should be burned before you can rotate it.

Nornir Chest 1 – Idunn Apple
You will find a climb route west of the Shores of Nine to the northwest of Lake of Nine.
On the way to the chest, the first torch will be found. Take a left at the top to locate the second torch.
You will find the last torch back where you left it, hidden behind some icicles. To reach it, you will need to line up some sigils.

You can find a treasure chest in this cave if you clear up the Kol Raider camp.
After clearing the brambles nearby with a firebomb, the first torch can be lit.
The torch will be hidden behind some gold ore to the north. This can be cleaned out with a fire bomb.
The last torch is located east of the chasm. To light the fire, line up your sigils from top to bottom.
Nornir Chest 3 – Idunn Apple
Hidden underground, is a chest near the Oarsmen. The chain can be climbed by climbing up the stairs from the opposite end.
Place your blades next to the chest and open the wooden doors.
You can unlock a staircase by using the large chain. The Fjoturlund Key Half can be found near the statue. You can use a Sonic Arrow to clear any debris so that you can see the main area.
To return to your chest, you must open the gate. The bell to the northwest is the first. The second is to the south and the third is where the debris used be.
Nornir Chest 4, Horn of Blood Mead
This chest is located close to the large vault entrance. To light the torch, pull the shield left using your blades.
To find the second torch, climb up the shield to the left. Below you will find a blocked doorway. You can clear the area by carefully using sigils.
Drag the pillar left and pull the shield right. To allow Freya to pass, freeze the gears and move under the shield through the door.
You can then light the torch to complete the puzzle.

Nornir Chest 1: Horn of Blood Mead
You will find a zipline on the east side. This is the first torch.
To light it, create a line using sigils. Then hop on to the platform.
The chest is located in a dark passageway. The last torch can be lit by a series arrows.
To find the final torch, turn around. This can be lit by placing your sigils on the table.
Nornir Chest 2 – Idunn Apple
This chest is to the west of Brok’s shop in The Crater. Two bells flank the chest. The third is on the back of a stone high above the chest.
To quickly ring the bells, move from left to right.
Nornir Chest 3, Horn of Blood Mead
This chest is located in the west of The Crater, in a camp for revenants. You can freeze the poison token and then unlock the door to eliminate the enemies.
The first seal can be found on a rock in the west. The second seal is located inside a tree to its east. The last one is behind the chest behind the tree.
To avoid poisoning yourself, use your spear to smash the last one.
Nornir Chest 4, Horn of Blood Mead
After completing an optional quest in the late game, you can find this one in The Jungle. It’s close to the Mystic Gateway to the south.
Turn the first pillar to match the symbol.
The pillar will be located above you on the east side, between the Sun Altar and Moon Altar. Rotate the pillar and burn away all vines.
To find the last pillar, grab a nearby ledge and climb up.
Nornir Chest 5 – Idunn Apple
After you have completed the Casualties Of War: The Hourglass favor, this chest will be yours.
Follow the climbing route to reach the area below the chest.
The first idol is to north, the second to far south, and last to the top of pillar to the West.
To open the chest, you need to spit them and then blow them up.
Nornir Chests God of War Ragnarök: Muspelheim
Nornir Chest 1: Horn of Blood Mead
You’ll need the Muspelheim Seed to reach this one. It’s behind a rock on the right as you walk through the area. To see the rock, use your spear to detonate it.
You will find two torches opposite the chest. So make a line from left to right with your sigils. You can find the sigils to your left and then ignite them using your blades.
The final torch can be found up to the right side of the chest. You can reach it with your blades.
