Encanto is off to a strong start at the box office, with House of Gucci not far behind

For years, the Thanksgiving weekend has been a key release window for Disney. We’ve seen Walt Disney Animation Studios films released on the Wednesday before the holiday for the last several years, and we’ll see it happen for years to come. This year’s entry is the musical Encanto and in last night’s previews the movie put forth a solid $1.5 million in ticket sales, although the Lady Gaga’s Lady Gaga House of GucciAlso broke the $1million mark, so it will now be a race to see who wins the weekend box office crown.

House of GucciIt saw a Tuesday night worth $1.3 million. However, it was slightly handicapped by its previews which began at 7pm. EncantoThe event started earlier in the morning, at 4pm. At least some of the following are also available: Encanto’s higher total would seem to be due to the fact that it simply got more screenings in. The movie is still a family film.
