An insider says, “She’s been asking her celebrity friends to appear on the show in a bid to up her ratings.” A-listers like Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow have stopped by, but it’s done little to move the needle.
Barrymore’s received high marks as a host. She’s affable and comfortable, but it looks like it’s too late. According to a source, “It may take a miracle to turn things around.”
How’s The Show Really Doing?
Drew Barrymore doesn’t have anything to worry about, at least for now. Her talk show was renewed to air in a Second season earlier this year, so she’ll be fine at least through March. She’s carved out a niche in a crowded marketplace, and the program only grows.
Barrymore’s ratings are impacted by two major competitors: Ellen DeGeneres and Kelly Clarkson. Clarkson seems destined to take DeGeneres’ crown as the reigning monarch of daytime, but DeGeneres is pulling in strong ratings for her last season.
