Diane Kruger says Quentin Tarantino didn’t want her in ‘Inglourious basterds’

Diane Kruger outlined the difficult journey she went through to get her part in Quentin Tarantino’s. “Inglourious Basterds”On a recent episode, “Reign with Josh Smith” podcast.

Kruger was the German actress Bridget von Hammersmark and an undercover agent in the film about World War II, which Tarantino directed. The film was about a group of Jewish soldiers who went undercover to take down the Nazi party.

While promoting her latest movie “The 355″On “Reign,”Kruger informed the host that Tarantino initially didn’t want Kruger in the film.

“He auditioned everyone,”The actress, who is 45 years old, said it. “He didn’t want to audition me because he saw a movie that I was in he didn’t like. So he didn’t believe in me from the get-go. Literally, the only reason he auditioned me is because there was no one left to audition.”

Kruger didn’t specify the movie in which she was that Tarantino did not like.

“I had to pay for my own flight from New York to go to Germany because he wouldn’t, even though, obviously, he’s American, but he wouldn’t see me in the US,” Kruger continued. “So I had to jump through all these hoops that definitely put my nose out of joint, but I was like, ‘You know what? Fuck him! I’m just gonna do that and prove to him that I can do it.'”

She continued: “And thankfully it all worked out but sometimes it just seems so unfair and you’ve gotta change the narrative.”

Kruger stated that the moment was a “lesson”Tarantino not to put “people in boxes.”

Insider reached out for comment to Tarantino’s representatives.

The movie won and was nominated in a variety of awards in 2010. Kruger was nominated by Screen Actors Guild for an outstanding performance by a woman actor in a supporting part. SAG awarded Kruger for her outstanding performance in a movie.
