Chris Evert Announces Cancer Diagnosis and Coverage for Remote Australian Open Patients During Treatment

Chris Evert, a tennis legend, announced Friday that she will be undergoing chemotherapy for stage 1 ovarian carcinoma. ESPN will also cover the Australian Open remotely.

Evert was a 18-time Grand Slam champion, winning 157 singles titles, and 32 doubles title during her playing career. She is still the record holder for longest streak of winning major titles in consecutive years — 13 — and holds the highest winning percentage in single matches in tennis history for both male and female players. She won the Australian Open twice in 1982 and 1984.
