Chicago P.D. Voight and Halstead: Entering a New Era

Spoilers ahead to Episode 12 Chicago P.D.Season 9: “To Protect.”

Chicago P.D.All hands were needed to capture the leader of Los Temidos, which required the use of C.I. AnnaTo get to the bad guys. VoightAnna was asked several times how dangerous the Intelligence Unit should allow Anna to be for the sake the investigation. Rely on Halstead’s inputI was able to do so much more than usual. At the end of the hour I was left wondering: P.D.They are entering a new age for their characters.

Halstead was fully aware that Halstead wanted things to work differently between them The midseason finale will be overIn December, he demanded that Voight come in to make decisions to prevent things getting too messy. It was even more uncertain if Voight would accept this when they got back to normal. They are constantly under threat from the Roy secret. Based on “To Protect,”Voight keeps Halstead informed, but also gives him the opportunity to learn the proper way before he gets creative and breaks the rules.

And it worked… more or less. Anna wasn’t outed as a C.I. after they put the pressure on somebody who could have talked and gotten her killed, although they couldn’t protect that man behind bars. All the good guys survived, and Anna continues to work in Chicago as a C.I. It’s hard to imagine that would have been 100% possible if Voight had gone rogue himself to take care of the problem. He would probably have had a new secret hanging over him and threatening Roy. Voight and Halstead worked well together, despite their differences.

Voight may not have wanted to keep his cops informed and rely on them to make big decisions on cases, even though it was half a season ago. He gave so much of his time to it Upton Keep as much information as possibleAbout their shared situation, Halstead kept the secret until Halstead connected all the dots about Roy. As of “To Protect,”The dynamic of the two working as equals seems quite successful. Voight and Halstead almost worked as partners with Upton riding With AtwaterFor most of the hour.

If P.D.Voight is keeping Halstead updated and inviting him to the decision-making. This could well be the beginning a new era. It’s worth noting that a big change has happened behind the scenes, with Rick EidHe is leaving his position as showrunner Chicago P.D. (while still running FBIOver to CBS and the reins of the Law & OrderRevitalization on NBC) Executive Producer Gwen Sigan Showrunner, bumped up.

Based on LaRoyce Hawkins has some commentsSigan has been busy creating stories for Season 9. The new showrunner could carry on any changes made in Season 9. It is still unclear what changes will take place and whether Voight will continue to be an equal partner with Halstead in the long term. Hawkins hopes that Voight will be able to work with Halstead as an equal. Atwater is finally a detective!

Unfortunately, “To Protect”This was the final episode of Chicago P.D. for some time, as the show won’t return with new episodes until after the Olympics finish airing NBC. It will resume Wednesday programming at 10 p.m. ET on NBC will be shown however following Chicago FireAt 9 p.m. Chicago MedAt 8 p.m. ET In the winter TV lineup.
