Cassian Elwes and the Black List are delighted to welcome an Independent Screenwriting Fellow to the Sundance Film Festival for the tenth year in a row.
Cassian Elwes Independent Filmwriting Fellow is an annual program to identify and encourage new talent in the field independent cinema. The fellowship awards up to 2 screenwriters a paid trip to 2023 Sundance Film Festival.Mudbound, The Butler, Dallas Buyers Club).
Unrepresented feature writers who have earned less than $5,000 per year in television or film writing careers can opt in via the Black List website. At that time, the Black List will choose ten finalists, whose work will be shared with Elwes, who will decide the fellowship recipients before calendar year’s end.
Leslie Nipkow and Aemilia Scott were former fellows. Heather Faris, John C. Hoffler Jr. Keely Lewis Wise Keely Garrett, Kristina Ziarias, Matthew Hickman and Mike Harden are also past fellows.
