Britney Spears Records A New Version Of “Tiny Dancer” with Elton John

According to reports in, Spears has been back in the studio, recording new music six years after her last release. Page Six and TMZ — and it will be a brand-new recording of John’s 1971 song, “Tiny Dancer,” which took on a new life after it was featured in Cameron Crowe’s 2000 film, “Almost Famous.”

According to Page Six, Spears and John met last week in Beverly Hills to record a new version. Universal Music will release the song next month. Andrew Watt, a Grammy-winning producer who has worked with Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Pearl Jam, and Ozzy Osbourne is said to be supervising the session.

Spears’ attorney, reps for John and both artists’ labels did not immediately respond to Variety‘s requests for comment.

The collaboration would mark Spears’ first return to making music since her conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.

Spears was in a conservatorship for over 13 years. Mathew Rosengart was her lawyer and helped her to get out of her legal arrangement after her explosive testimony last summer. In September 2021, Jamie Spears her father who was in charge of her conservatorship, was resigned. In November, she was finally granted her conservatorship. However, the legal battle remains messy with Spears fighting against her father and former business manager, Tri Star Sports & Entertainment, over her finances and allegations of abusive behavior throughout the conservatorship. Spears, who was in her conservatorship between 2008 and 2021, recorded new music, toured, and held a Las Vegas residency. Spears claimed she was forced to work against the will of her conservatorship, as she testified at court. Typically, conservatees are unable to work, so Spears’ situation was highly unusual. Her lawyer said her father made millions off her hard-earned money over the 13 years she worked, even though she claimed she didn’t want to tour.

The news of Spears’ collaboration with John will certainly come as a welcome surprise to Spears’ millions of fans around the world. Ever since her newfound freedom, Spears fans have been wondering if she’d want to get back in the studio and return to the stage — but first and foremost, the #FreeBritney movement has stood behind the star’s decision to live her own life however she chooses, new music or not. Spears, who married Sam Asghari this summer, her longtime boyfriend and expressed her desire for a family.

Spears often dances and sings on Instagram, where she interacts regularly with her followers. In fact, Spears made headlines earlier this month when she sang a powerful acapella rendition of her megahit. “Baby One More Time.”
