David O. Russell’s ”Amsterdam“ and Harry Styles-starrer ”My policeman“ also make the Top 10 list
DC’s next installment, the latest “Halloween” flick, David O. Russell’s new star-studded film and another Harry Styles movie set in the 1950s are among the 10 most-anticipated movies of October.
As you might’ve guessed, “Black Adam,” the upcoming DC Comics blockbuster starring Dwayne Johnson, is the most anticipated movie of October, according to Whip Media’s U.S. Movie Anticipation Report, which reflects data from TV Time, a television and movie app that tracks viewer interest across 22 million global registered users.
“Black Adam” will see the Justice Society of America try to harness the antihero’s powers for good, rather than destruction, as he takes on an evil foe. Fans are clearly excited about Johnson’s starring superhero role. Hiram Garcia, the film’s producer, spoke to the brain trust about the movie last year. “mean business.”
“We wanted to make sure people know that our tone was clearly different than some of the other movies, but also that we’re making sure we maintain the edge that Black Adam should have,” Garcia said. “Black Adam”The movie will be released in theaters on October 21.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the new Michael Myers slasher film, which will also be starring with “Halloween Kills”The No. 2 on Whip Media’s ranker. “Halloween Kills” will be released on Oct. 14 — giving fans plenty of time to get their screams out before Halloween.
The most recent “Halloween” — the 13th overall in the series, which kicked off with John Carpenter’s 1978 classic — will again feature Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, Myers’ long-running archnemesis. “Halloween Kills” also brings back the writing team of Danny McBride, Jeff Fradley and David Gordon Green from 2018’s “Halloween” — and why not? The film earned more than $250 million.
Coming in third place on Whip Media’s ranker is “Amsterdam,”Russell’s new mystery-comedy. The film, set in the 1930s, centers around three friends who become the main suspects in a murder of a high-ranking politician. “Amsterdam,” as you might’ve seen in the trailer, features a who’s who of stars in its ensemble cast, including Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, Chris Rock, Zoe Saldana, Rami Malek, Taylor Swift and Robert De Niro, among many others.
Fans are eager to see what the future holds. “Amsterdam,” critics haven’t loved it — with ’s review calling it “sloppy and disconnected.” “Amsterdam”October 7.
At this point, Whip Media’s ranker shifts from heavily-anticipated theatrical releases to movies that — outside of limited theatrical runs — will be featured on streaming. This includes the fourth-ranked flick. “Luckiest Girl Alive,” a mystery-thriller starring Mila Kunis as a woman who must grapple with a major secret after she’s interviewed for a true crime documentary. The film, which is based on Jessica Knoll’s popular novel, will be available on Netflix Oct. 7. (Same goes for the sixth-ranked movie. “The Good Nurse,”(Based on a popular 2013 novel, this crime drama.
No. 5. The anticipation report is “My Police Man,” Harry Styles’ new movie. This one — just like “Don’t Worry Darling” — is set in the 1950s, with Styles playing a gay British policeman who, while in a relationship with another man, marries a schoolteacher. “My Police Man”Released in the U.S.A. on Oct. 21. Then, it will head to Amazon Prime Video in early Nov.
Horror is featured again in the seventh slot, with Hulu’s “Hellraiser”The popular is being rebooted “Pinhead” character. The film — the 11th overall for the franchise — will hit Hulu on Oct. 7.
Jordan Peele and Henry Selick co-wrote October’s eighth most anticipated movie. “Wendell & Wild.”Peele and Keegan Michael Key star as Wendell, and Wild respectively in the stop motion horror comedy. They are two brothers who work together to find the Land of the Living. Following a short theatrical release, the film was released online. “Wendell & Wild”Netflix will make the video available starting Oct. 28.
The last two spots were also anchored by Netflix-bound horror films. “Mr. Harrigan’s Phone,” starring Jaeden Martell and Donald Sutherland, grabbing the ninth spot, and Marlon Wayans’ “The Curse of Bridge Hollow”The Top 10 are complete.
