November 5 might mean Guy Fawkes Night in the UK, but in the US people are wondering if it’s actually National Donut Day and if there are any deals.
You may recall that on June 3, people went crazy because it was National Donut/Doughnut Day in the USA. This day dates back to 1938 and is a tribute to The Salvation Army which provided comfort food to soldiers at the frontlines of the world wars.

It seems that National Donut Day is observed on two days in the US – but, are we really complaining about that? However, there doesn’t seem to be an official explanation as to why this is observed in June and on November 5.
A blogIt does seem that the United States Marine Corps was celebrating its birthday on November 10, 2001. The American Prisoner in War was held in Son Tay prison camp as an American Prisoner in War. To trick the North Vietnamese, they claimed it was their national donut holiday to give them donuts to mark the occasion.
However, it isn’t confirmed this is the reason for the second National Donut Day.
People on social media don’t seem to mind if it’s not a confirmed day, as many are celebrating regardless.
No matter if you’re confirmed or not, there are no bad days to indulge in your favorite donuts.
National Donut Day deals
One thing you may have noticed from National Donut Day back in June is that the holiday is observed and celebrated by several brands, such as Dunkin’ Donuts and Krispy Kreme which offered deals to customers.
In June, Dunkin’ Donuts offered customers in the US a free donut with any hot drink and Krispy Kreme had two deals for the US and Canada.
Customers could get a free donut or a sweet deal on a dozen donuts.

While both the brands were frontrunners for donut lovers back in June, it seems they aren’t observing the holiday a second time this year.

That doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate on your own and indulge in your favourite donuts to your heart’s desire.
