Alec Baldwin to Be Represented by Attorney Aaron S. Dyer ‘Rust’ Civil Suits

Aaron S. Dyer, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman will represent Alec Baldwin and Rust Producers LLC in civil lawsuits stemming out of the accidental shooting death cinematographer Halyna Utchins on set of Western RustDeadline has confirmed that. Dyer, who once served as L.A.’s assistant district attorney, will also rep other producers involved with the film.

Baldwin fatally shot Hutchins while filming at Santa Fe, NM’s Bonanza Creek Ranch on October 21. According to Dave Halls, Baldwin used a prop gun. “cold,”It actually contained at least one round of ammunition. Joel Souza was also hurt on set of the film, which was produced and starring Baldwin.

Two lawsuits have been filed since the tragedy. Mamie Mitchell, Script supervisor, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court citing “physical and emotional injuries” she’d suffered as a result of the events on the Rust set, which named Baldwin, along with other producers and crew members. Serge Svetnoy, a gaffer, also filed suit, claiming similar injuries, as he was in close proximity to Baldwin at the time he fired his fatal shot. Mitchell is represented in this matter by Gloria Allred and Gary A. Dordick for Svetnoy.

While Hutchins’ husband and son are repped by attorney Brian J. Panish, they have not yet filed suit. Baldwin faces criminal charges in connection with the shooting at the set of RustIt is still not clear. Investigations into the death of the set of Rust, on the part of the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office and OSHA, are ongoing.
