Actress Anne Heche dies at 53 after being critically injured in a car crash

Anne Heche, who was critically injured in a car accident last week, has passed away.

The 53-year old actress was captured speeding through quiet Los Angeles neighborhoods on Aug. 5 before colliding with a house. For over an hour, she was trapped in the heat, inhaling heavy smoke.

Her family stated in a statement that she suffered severe anoxic brain injuries due to lack oxygen.

Heche was in a critical state and in a coma. Her family informed her that she would not survive. She was being kept on life support in order to determine if any organs are viable for donation.

“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light,”Her family made the following statement.

The actor became famous for portraying twin sisters on the soap. “Another World,”She was awarded a Daytime Emmy in recognition of her efforts.

Later, she starred in a variety of roles on television and in films. “Donnie Brasco,” “Catfight” “Gracie’s Choice.”She had also played several roles on Broadway.

Heche was officially declared brain dead by California law. However, her family claims that her heart was still beating Friday to allow them to harvest her organs.
