A WOMAN was kidnapped by an assassin who wanted to rape, murder and kill her. He could be soon freed.
Debbie Vangerko was only 17 years old when Nicholas Burton, a drug addict, kidnapped and held her at knifepoint 11 hours in 1997.

The deranged addict had attacked Rachel McGrath, the daughter of a district judge, and killed her in an attack on a Cheshire pub car park.
Debbie, who was not connected to Burton, was taken on a nearby street. She survived because she stopped at a Caernarfon petrol station, North Wales. From there, she managed to flee.
Burton would later admit that he had planned to rape, murder and find another victim.
Debbie was told by probation officers that her maniacal kidnapper was being released, despite the horrors of his crimes.

In April 1998, Burton was found guilty of Miss McGrath’s death and false imprisonment and threat to murder Debbie. He received three life sentences.
