Social media has become more mainstream and there have been increased site policing and rules to deal with certain user’s content and behavior. Even though social media is used to the benefit of government officials and other notable figures, there are times when more extreme users violate these guidelines.
In an effort to stop the spread of misinformation, Twitter banned several users from spreading false information. These bans were made almost exactly one year after the January 6 Capitol Riot. This caused considerable uproar on social media.
