2022 Billboard Music Awards: How to Watch the BBMAs Online Free

Looking for a night of spectacular performances, unexpected collaborations, buzzworthy pop culture moments? There’s no better way to celebrate the chart-topping hits of the year than with the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.

The 2022 BBMAs will air live on NBC this Sunday from Las Vegas, and this year’s event will feature some record-breaking artists, from The Weeknd (finalist in 17 categories, including Top Artist) to Doja Cat (14 categories, including Top Viral Song, Top Hot 100 Song, and Top Collaboration category for “Kiss Me More”) and Olivia Rodrigo (including Top Artist and Top New Artist). The BBMAs added two controversial performers as well, booking Morgan Wallen after stepping back into the spotlight at the Academy of Country Music Awards in March, and Travis Scott with his first TV performance since the Astroworld tragedy.

Hosted by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs (who is also executive producing) in an exciting return to music he announced on Twitter, the ceremony is gearing up for some potential record-breakers, and first-time winners. Five new categories were also introduced this year, including Top Billboard Global 200 Artist, Top Billboard Global Exclusive U.S. Artist, Top Billboard Global 200 Song, and Top Billboard Global Exclusive U.S. Song (Ed Sheeran is up for all four new global categories). BTS is nominated for many of the same categories, but will not be attending the awards show this year, instead focusing on their June comeback.

If you’re wondering how the votes are even counted, Billboard Music Awards nominees and winners are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring, and social engagement racked by Billboard and its data partners, including MRC Data. Fan-voted categories, though, include Top Social Artist and Top Collaboration.
