In the baseball series finale of the CCSU Blue Devils versus the Monmouth Hawks, CCSU was able to avoid the sweep and defeat the Hawks 8-4.  The Blue Devils were able to sneak out to an early lead with RBI singles by Dylan Delacruz and Connor Fitzsimmons.

The game was broken out in the fourth inning with the Blue Devils scoring six runs.  Central had three players with RBI singles, one of which was by Delacruz who delivered two RBIs in the victory.  Tyler McIntyre sealed the inning with a two-run double to bring the lead out to 8-1.  Even with the Hawks scoring three more runs, Jack Greenhouse pitched a complete game only giving up four runs.

It was an important divisional game for the Blue Devils and it was even more important for them to avoid being swept.  Tyler McIntyre still has the hot bat and is hitting .436 for the season and .321 in the conference. Dylan Delacruz is also coming around the bases scoring 20 runs this season and batting .346. With the win Jack Greenhouse moves to 4-1 on the season with a conference Earned Run Average of 1.69.

Greenhouse is showing his dominance in the rotation, almost accounting for half of the team’s victory.  With the victory the Blue Devils move to 10-10 on the season. Next weekend Central will be traveling to LIU Brooklyn for a four-game series.  LIU Brooklyn is (4-17) on the season and are (1-3) in the NEC.
